Jericho Wharf finally has a fresh start...

The Jericho Wharf Trust has been working with Worcester College over the last couple of years and the Compulsory Purchase campaign finally forced the current landowner to sell the Wharf to the College.The builders rubble has already been removed from the site and the College and Trust now wish to start collecting views on its future.

You are invited to:

  • An Open Meeting with Worcester College and Jericho Wharf Trust
  • Monday 14th September from 7.30pm
  • St Barnabus School Hall, Hart St., Jericho

This will be the start of a continuing conversation about temporary uses and the longer term. There are no current architects plans but the Local Plan set the context:

  • residential development
  • a new community cetre
  • a public square
  • a replacement operating boatyard
  • the potential to accommodate a new bridge crossing.

Canal Festival 2026

The Canal Festival 2026 is nearly upon us. Many people have already offered to help out - thank you! But the organising committee would still appreciate more helpers if you have some time to help set up (on Friday 18th September and Saturday 19th September in the morning) or during the festival itself:

  • on Saturday 19 September
  • at the Aristotle Lane Recreation Ground
  • from 12.00 (gates open at 11.30)
  • attractions include kids’ games, a Story Tent, Boat trips, Arts and Crafts, a Dog Show, Live Music, a Cinema, boat trips, lots of food stalls and a beer tent.

There is also a JustGiving page that has been set up to cover the costs of delivering the festival (which are considerable!)

Please join us for WMRA AGM 2026 on Wednesday 28th October

Our annual AGM is a chance for residents to get together and discuss life in Walton Manor with neighbours. We will, as usual, give an overview of the activities of the committee and this year two of our number will also be giving the talk that accompanies the AGM formalities.

Bryan And Helena are the members of the committee that keep an eye on large planning applications that are submitted within Walton Manor and they liaise with developers and council staff to put forward community views. In addition to this, Bryan is currently researching the history of the area. Helena was heavily involved in the work to create the Walton Manor Conservation Area Appraisal document that many of you may have looked at and commented on. This year we will hear from both of them on...
